Welcome to my podcast. I am Doctor Warrick Bishop, and I want to help you to live as well as possible for as long as possible. I’m a practising cardiologist, best-selling author, keynote speaker, and the creator of The Healthy Heart Network. I have over 20 years as a specialist cardiologist and a private practice of over 10,000 patients.

In this podcast, Doctor Warwick Bishop and Dr Alistair discuss the concept of happiness and how it relates to change. They explore different models of will, including the will to pleasure, power, meaning, and consciousness.

They suggest that happiness is a byproduct of living a certain way and that people who pursue a life of meaning or power often have more experiences of it. They also discuss the importance of falling in love with the present moment and what's happening, even in difficult situations like illness or surgery.

Dr Alistair shares his experience of using hypnosis and neuro-linguistic programming to stabilize his vitals during a pulmonary embolism. They emphasize the inevitability of struggle and the importance of embracing it to break the loop of suffering.

Finally, they encourage listeners to invest time, money, and support into change and to embrace the inevitability of struggle and problems.

  • The podcast is about understanding blood pressure, weight, and cholesterol for better health.
  • Pursuing a life of meaning or power often leads to more experiences of happiness than pursuing happiness directly.
  • People have different drivers that give them happiness, such as pleasure, power, knowledge, meaning, or consciousness.
  • When illness arrives, change occurs in people's lives, and their emotional journey can affect their recovery.
  • Falling in love with the present moment and what's happening can help people deal with illness and move back into a realm of happiness.
  • The investment required for change can be time, money, or support, and there will be irritation, agitation, and frustration.
  • Embracing the inevitability of struggle, problems, and effort required to become more aware and conscious can help people break the loop of suffering.
  • People need to do enough work to fall back in love with what they can be and ignore the resistance to change.
  • Inevitability is a powerful concept that can help people adapt to most things and reduce resistance and suffering.
  • Heart attack is the single biggest killer in the Western world, accounting for 9 million deaths globally, and it seems to be able to affect anyone.

Australia, like the rest of the western world, has a heart problem.

Over 9 million people around the world die from heart disease every year.
