Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop. I'd like to tell you about a patient that taught me a lot, who I came across a number of years ago. Her name was Mary and Mary had very brittle cardiac failure. That meant that she was in and out of hospital all the time. During that process though, during that time, I realized that Mary could help me help her.
And so we talked about her being engaged in adjusting her medication as soon as she had a problem. And so trying to avoid the need to come into hospital, avert the problem in the first place. Well, it turned out that by Mary having some ownership of her own condition, things worked much, much better.
