Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Today's Healthy Heart Minute is about cardiac failure. What symptoms or history might be associated with that condition? Well, cardiac failure are fixed hundreds of thousands of people within Australia and millions globally. It's a very common condition. And really one of the key features associated with cardiac failure is retention of fluid. Now that fluid has to go somewhere. That extra fluid can end up in the lungs, or it can end up in the periphery or both. So often is the case that people will present with features of shortness of breath on exertion or swollen ankles or both. So cardiac failure commonly associated with shortness of breath, swollen ankles.
