Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop. I'm a cardiologist and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute.
I've got a very quick story for you today about a patient I saw a number of years ago. He was seen by his GP because he'd had a heart attack and hadn't seen anyone for nearly a decade. Well, this fellow didn't want to see me as a patient. That was clear. But when we got through that initial rub, if you like, I eventually put in place a number of strategies for him. I didn't think I'd ever see this patient again because he clearly didn't like seeing doctors and I thought if I was lucky, I'd see him in 10 years time. Well, lo and behold, three months later, I walk into my waiting room to see this very patient sitting there and I say "Hello. I didn't expect to see you here again." He says, "Doc, you've made me feel so well the last time I thought I'd come back again."
Well, I've put together a podcast on that very story, which I think is humorous, but also a really good reminder that you should keep locked in with your medical providers, particularly if you've had something going with your heart so that you can be getting the best medical care and therefore feel as well as possible.
