Hi, my name's Dr. Warrick Bishop and I'm a cardiologist. Welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. A quick one today on what I believe is a change that appears to have occurred over the last couple of decades. And that is the gradual increase in the bureaucracy around the management of patients within hospitals.

It seems to be that paperwork is growing on a yearly basis, and I'm not sure that that's necessarily progress. I know that there's steps in place to try and prevent problems, but I'm almost concerned that at times it's getting to a stage where we're so busy filling out the tick boxes and the paperwork that we're actually not looking at the patient and seeing what's going on with them.

I've done a podcast on this very topic, which I believe is dear to my heart and actually dear to the heart of many people involved at the cold lface of medical care.
