Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop. Welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Today's minute is about beta blockers.

You may have heard that word, beta blockers. Well, they're a class of drug and they're there to slow down the fight and flight nervous system. The fight and flight is the one that makes us ready to take off, can push up our blood pressure, makes our hearts race.

We use beta blockers in cardiology a lot. They are an absolute pillar of management for people with heart failure. We use them for people who have palpitations. We have used them in the past for blood pressure, but not as much anymore, and we use them after people have had a heart attack.

If you'd like to know more about beta blockers in the heart I've got a podcast linked to this video. Please have a listen and check it out.

I'm gonna wish you the very best. Take care and bye for now!
