Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Today's minute is about statins and brain function.

There have been reports and there is information that pops up in the media about whether statins impact brain function, and of course this has been studied. There was a query about a particular statin called Rosuvastatin causing potential problems in certain individuals.

The long and the short of it though, is that there is no clear evidence that we can predict if people will get brain fog or brain problems from statins. If the information we've got, it seems that statins actually reduce progression to dementia.
