Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute.
I don't think it's a surprise to know that the education we get through medical school is only a component of what we bring to deliver best care to patients. There's no question that an intern who's just completed one year, or a brand new doctor who's just completed finally in medicine may have plenty and plenty of knowledge, but really aren't in the position to deliver that knowledge, as someone who's been practicing for a decade or more, who may in fact have lost some of the most recent information, or may not be academically quiet as up to date.
Delivery of healthcare is complicated. It requires connection. It requires experience and an understanding of patient doctor relationships.
